What is Holistic Wellness?
Have you ever heard of Holistic Wellness? I hadn’t heard of Holistic Wellness until I worked in the Family Medicine department at the University of Oklahoma. One course medical students can take is called Food as Medicine and it discusses how our body systems are interconnected, and the food we eat affects every system in our body. When we approach food from a systems perspective, we are applying a Holistic Wellness approach to health. A Holistic Approach to Wellness As I focus on healing (My 2021 Word of the Year), I’m taking a holistic approach to wellness. My 2021 Word of the Year
Do you pick a word of the year? Instead of choosing a New Year’s Resolution, I pick one word every year to focus on. This is usually a word I feel that God has laid on my heart to bring growth and maturity in my life, and it’s usually an area in my life that needs to be developed or nurtured so that I become a better person. My favorite kind of bread is challah, a Jewish Sabbath bread that is typically braided or knotted. Challah is beautiful to look at, and with a hint of sweetness from honey, it tastes delicious too! If you want to try your hand at making bread, here is my…
The Epic Gift Giving Dilemma Solved – How Many Gifts to Buy Your Kids This Year?
How many gifts do you get your kids for the holidays? Every year, our kids make an extravagant list of things they want (and sometimes need) for the holidays because in our family, we only buy gifts for the kids at Christmas and their birthday (I’ll write a post on why soon, I promise!). They know they’ve only got a couple times a year to ask for everything they’re wanting, and they certainly take advantage of the holiday season! But how many gifts should you actually buy? I think it depends on the answers to a few questions, and the answers to these questions can change over time. Ten years…
